Just finished up a site for fashion designer Geoffrey Mac with Fashion Consort. Pretty happy with the results.

I love the way how everything visually matches and seems to intertwine with the audio.

Looks like a great tool for those one off internal apps that a developer has to do in large companies and doesn’t want to spend much time on them.

This just came out of the Velocity conference last week. Great information on what goes on under the hood in javascript engines for performance.

IDE for Node.js →
Happy to see that someone is working on integration of Node.js into an IDE. Netbeans, while it seems to remain the underdog in the world of Java, has been the tool of choice for me when working in PHP and Javascript.
Greg Melander: 15 Styles of Distorted Thinking →
gregmelander:
1. Filtering: You take the negative details and magnify them, while filtering out all positive aspects of a situation. A single detail may be picked out, and the whole event becomes colored by this detail. When you pull negative things out of context, isolated from all the good experiences…

Songs for Yachting →
How can you go wrong with the description of this playlist: “A collection of Yacht Rock favorites for the rich, white 50-something year old in all of us” I only wish the playlist included “True” by Spandau Ballet.

Wooh, this is delicious. I’ve been getting into node.js, both as a command line tool and as a server side solution, and came across JSONSelect. It is like jQuery for JSON.

Poor man's cache for squirrelcart
I’m using squirrelcart currently for a client’s ecommerce site. They didn’t want anything fancy in the ecommerce realm, for their version (even though squirrelcart supports it) it doesn’t even connect up to someone like authorize.net to take payments. It has been great and easy to create a theme in. The 90-day support that comes with the purchase it is great. They have...

Safari 3D CSS Test →
I wanted to translate some animation movements into css3 (on Safari to use the 3d perspective capabilities) but it was a big pain trying to translate. I decided to write a quick testing page so I could build up a simple 3d animation with keyframes.

TeslaTouch →
Love this concept! My biggest struggle with touchscreens is being able to type consistently on them. I get no feedback as to whether my finger is on a button, or partially on a button or on two buttons (usually more on the button that I don’t want to press). This could solve that problem.

3D Slides html5 →
This is a cool demonstration of what can be done with all of the new goodies in html5 and css3 that Safari currently implements (and coming in the next version of chrome and firefox 4).

A client wanted a quick example of a slide show that could branch out into other sets of slides. I set this one up for four slides branching off to four slides each for a total of 20.
Shadow Study #2 →
Another study of shadows. This time I put up four separate characters and each one’s shadow varies according to where the mouse is. It is a bit subtle but most easily seen when the mouse is in the middle of them.

Shadow Study #1 →
This is a first look (for me) at using the css text shadow and how to get it to look like a true shadow. The shadow becomes more diffuse the further the mouse is away from the letter.

Le vilain petit carré / The ugly square
This is a great story and very well told. The voices of the adults are great. Sort of reminds me of the direction the Peanuts cartoons took.
Programming History
I’ve been watching a series of videos by Douglas Crockford on Javascript. This first one gives an interesting history of computer programming in general.
SOUR / 日々の音色
I’ve watched this video multiple times and every time I’m amazed at the planning that had have gone into it and how fun it all feels despite the work behind it.

CSS Transition Fun
Greg Melander, an amazing dude (I’m not sure how to classify all the things he does) lent me his layout for doing some experiments with. I decided to play around with CSS3 Transitions. If you aren’t in Chrome or (preferably) Safari, go get yourself a copy and see what you’re missing. All the animations are in CSS.

Custom Fonts for Web →
This isn’t anything new, but it is something that I love. Being freed from Arial, Helvetica land is great. I’ve enjoyed TypeKit as well, but I think because of the commercial aspect of it the performance of it just isn’t as good.
Wendi Reed Fall 2010 →
Concept and design for this site was by Fashion Consort and Hemmert Studio. I had a great time implementing it. The approach gives you the feeling that you are there at the photo shoot.
